The new bus station which replaced the Northampton Fish Market Art Gallery will open on March 1st, and it will certainly be a talking point again in the town over the next couple of months. It’s significantly smaller than Greyfriars but the council say that it is designed to facilitate all the bus routes that currently run, while it’s in a flexible location to be able to adapt to various routes in the future.
It’s certainly a more attractive design and Greyfriars was once nominated as one of the ugliest buildings in the UK, so that’s good news for the town of Northampton, but only time will tell whether it has been a good move and a worthy investment.
The site is pretty much in good shape right now, and only minor tweaks are needed to get it in full working order, so if you’re heading to Northampton soon or you want to catch a bus on open day then make sure you visit the North Gate Bus Station on March 1st.
